Crochet Pattern: Scrapbook Accent Photo Borders

Each of these heart shaped frames fit nicely over a 4X5 or 4X6 photograph. Depending on your personal style and needs, you may buy the materials to finish this into a custom frame, hot glue it to an existing frame, or you may want to make it into a photo magnet or use it to decorate a scrapbook; whichever you decide, these handmade borders are a perfect touch to most any photograph.  

Materials:

• Aunt Lidia’s Fashion Crochet Thread Size 3 [Bridal White]
• Size 3 [2.10] Steel Crochet Hook

Special Instructions:

• 4 DC Dec- * Yarn over and insert hook into next chain, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops on hook. Repeat from * three more times, keeping loops of incomplete stitches on hook. Yarn over and pull through all loops on hook
• Puff Stitch- * Yarn over and insert hook, from front to back to front, around the post of indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops on hook. Repeat from * two more times, yarn over and pull through all loops on hook.
• 2 HDC Dec- * Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch and pull up a loop. Repeat from * once more keeping all loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all loops on hook.

• To begin: Chain 85, slip stitch into first chain.
• Round one: Chain three [counts as first]. One double crochet in next three chains. Three double crochet in next, two double crochet in next, three double crochet in next. One double Crochet in each of next fifteen chain spaces. Two double crochet in next, one double crochet in next, nine times. Two double crochet in each of next two chain spaces. One double crochet in each of next three. Decrease three with next four [see special instructions - 4 DC Dec] One Double Crochet in each of next three. Two Double Crochet in each of next two. One double crochet in next, two double crochet in next, nine times. One double crochet in each of next eleven. Slip stitch into first stitch. Do not turn.
• Round Two: Chain two [counts as first]. Work one half double crochet in next. Work a puff stitch around post of next [see special instructions - puff stitch]. One half double crochet in each of next four, two half double crochet in next, one double crochet in next four. Puff stitch around post of next. One half double crochet in each of next ten. Puff stitch around post of next. One half double crochet in each of next seven, two half double crochet in next, one half double crochet in next two. Two half double crochet in next, one in next. Puff stitch around post of next. One half double crochet in next two, two in each of next. One half double crochet in next ten. Puff stitch around next post. One half double crochet in each of next nine. Decrease one with next two [see special instructions 2 HDC Dec]. One half double Crochet in each of next nine. Puff stitch around post of next. One half double crochet in each of next ten, two in next, one in next two. Puff stitch around post of next. One half double crochet in next, two in next, one in each of next two, two in next, one in each of next seven. Puff stitch around post of next. One half double crochet in last four. Slip stitch to first. Do not turn.
• Round Three: * Chain three, one single crochet in next. Chain three, skip next stitch and single crochet in next. Repeat from * around. Tie off and weave in ends.

• V Stitch- Chain two, yarn over, insert hook into same space as last stitch was worked, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops on hook [two loops remain on hook], yarn over, skip two stitches, insert hook into next, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops on hook, yarn over, pull through last three loops on hook.

  Short V Stitch- Chain two, yarn over, insert hook into same space as last stitch was worked, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops on hook [two loops remain on hook], yarn over, skip one stitch, insert hook into next, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops on hook, yarn over, pull through last three loops on hook.

• To begin: chain 136, attach with a slip stitch to first chain
• Round One: Chain two, double crochet in next chain. Double crochet in next 27 chain spaces. Three double crochet in next. One double crochet in next 39 chain spaces. Three double crochet in next. One double crochet in next 27. Three double crochet in next. One double crochet in next 39 chain spaces. Three double crochet in next. Slip Stitch to first. Do not turn.
• Round Two: Chain two, skip two stitches, double crochet in next. Work a V stitch [see special instructions], V stitch six more times. Next, short V stitch three times to form corner. Regular V stitch next, thirteen times. Short V stitch three times. V stitch eight times. Short V stitch three times. Next, V stitch twelve times. Short V stitch three times. Chain two, slip stitch to first.
• Round Three: * Chain one. Three single crochet in next chain space. Repeat from * around. Slip stitch to first.
